Specifying Engineers:
Greenheck recently comissioned a national study that indicated over 70% of specifying engineers use the CAPS selection software to schedule Greenheck on thier projects. Greenheck has always strived to be a market leader in its software initiatves and their CAPS selection software is a great example of this.
This month Greenheck rolled out CAPS version 4.6 for engineers. This new update includes new products and offerings including built in revit drawings based on the models and options selected. If you haven't taken CAPS for a test drive, download it and try it out. If you are a regular user the update should run automatically for you.
In this month's Buckdate, our team of product specialists have prepared articles with relevant technical data and product application information.

These Aren't Your Ordinary Starters
Mike Leydon
When was the last time you looked at what you specify for motor starters? This may be one of the most overlooked pieces of equipment in the mechanical system. Variable Frequency Drives have been evolving constantly since their introduction, however motor starters have not had much advancement until now. Cerus Industrial has taken motor starters to a whole new level.
Energy Management Starter
The EMS starter (shown left), unlike traditional starters, utilizes meter quality current transformers for measuring motor amp draw for the overload. Since the current transformers are meter quality the starter can provide a KW and KWH output. The EMS series starters can also be specified to have a BACnet communications card. This option allows the BMS system to communicate with the starter.
Single Phase Starter
The BAS-1P is a new, single phase starter to handle small motor loads up to 16 amps and it installs in a single gang electrical box. The BAS-1P includes a HOA switch, on/off switch, electronic overload, voltage/dry contact run inputs and status output.

Price Critical Environment Products and Ceiling Systems Deliver
Steve Nemec
Price is the only manufacturer offering air distribution products and systems for the entire critical environment sector. These specialized designs are available for healthcare, laboratories and cleanrooms.
As operating rooms becomes more crowded with imaging and other advanced technology equipment, the Price HDCR ceiling system is a logical solution to access requirements.
Recent projects featuring the HDCR access grid as well as laminar diffusers are: Massachusetts General Hospital Building for the 3rd Century, Mass Eye and Ear, Tufts New England Medical Center, and St. Francis Hospital.
Price can also design and test custom configurations to meet the unusual demands often required in these environments. The addition of lift rails in patient rooms has made air distribution a challenge. Price has the capability to perfrom mock ups for our engineers to ensure that the design will peform as desired. They have designed custom air distribution solutions to insure there won't be discomfort in these spaces.
